Become a Friendly Visitor

Catholic Charities’ Friendly Visiting Program connects compassionate volunteers with older adults who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation. Through regular visits, phone calls, or meaningful conversations, volunteers provide companionship, encouragement, and connection to seniors in our community.

Many older adults live alone or have limited opportunities for social interaction. A Friendly Visitor helps brighten someone’s day simply by sharing time, conversation, and friendship.

What Does a Friendly Visitor Do?

Volunteers may:

  • Visit with an older adult in person
  • Make friendly phone calls
  • Share stories, hobbies, and interests
  • Provide companionship and social connection
  • Help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation

No special experience is required—just a caring heart, a willingness to listen, and a commitment to building meaningful relationships.

Why Volunteer?

As a Friendly Visitor, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Make a positive impact in someone’s life
  • Build meaningful connections
  • Help older adults remain connected to their community
  • Share your time and compassion with someone who may need it most

Many volunteers find that they receive just as much from the experience as the person they visit.
