Workshop in Kankakee: Interventions for Self-Neglecting Older Adults Who Hoard

Join Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet and the Illinois Department on Aging (in cooperation with the 21st Judicial Circuit Family Violence Coordinating Council) as they host a workshop called “Because We Care: Interventions for Self-Neglecting Older Adults Who Hoard” on April 6 from 8:00am – 5:00pm at Kankakee Community College.
Dr. Christiana Bratiotis, a nationally recognized speaker, will familiarize participants with the definition, demographics, and prevalence of hoarding. The day will also include education about diagnostic categorization and manifestation of hoarding. Dr. Bratiosis will offer tips for enhancing motivation, effective communication, and reduction of harm for all those working with self-neglecting older adults.
The fee is $10 per person (collected at the door) and includes continental breakfast, lunch, APS recertification credit and CEU’s.
