Due to tornado damage in the Kankakee County area, our Kankakee County office is closed today (3/11/26). The safety of our staff, clients, and community members remains our top priority.
We are continuing to monitor the situation and will share additional updates and resources as they become available.
For individuals and families who have been impacted by the storm, the following community resources are currently available (upated 3/11/26 at 10am):
Emergency Shelter and Support
American Red Cross of Illinois has opened a shelter at KCC for those affected by the storm:
Kankakee Community College (100 College Dr., Kankakee, IL): Individuals and families can go to the Red Cross site at KCC for emergency shelter, meals, charging stations for phones and other devices, and access to info and community resources. Pets in kennels are welcome at this location.
Clothing and Basic Needs
Georgie’s Closet (238 N. Bradley Blvd, Kankakee, IL) is open on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 until 3:00PM for clothing and hygiene items.
