Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet provides food and travel vouchers; clothing and furniture vouchers; financial assistance for prescription medication; rent/mortgage assistance; and information/referral to other community resources.
Aging and Disability Services
Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet provides many programs and services to help the older adults within our Aging and Disability Services division. These services offer Options Counseling, Information & Assistance, Care Coordination, Crisis Intervention and volunteer opportunities for older adults and persons with disabilities. Caregiver programming is provided to support family caregivers and grandparents raising grandchildren.
Shelter / Alternative Housing
Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet provides a variety of housing programs for individuals and families who are homeless or at-risk, including transitional housing, permanent supportive housing and more. These programs are designed to maximize self-sufficiency.
Mobile Food Pantry
Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet has partnered with the Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry Program to provide food distribution to under-served areas, where there is little access to food assistance. The Food Bank has two Mobile Pantry trucks that have nine bays, six of which are refrigerated, and can hold up to 9,000 pounds of food. Every distribution includes frozen meat, a valuable source of protein, fresh produce, bread, and nutritious non-perishable items, as well as cleaning items when available. Each Mobile Pantry distribution visit lasts two hours and can provide nutritious food to as many as 300 families.
